  Foundation Of Tae Kwon Do

The founder, Major General Choi Hong Hi 9th Dan Black Belt, inaugurated Tae-Kwon-Do in South Korea on 11th April 1955, following extensive research and development.

Tae-Kwon-Do was first introduced into Great Britain in 1967. Tae-Kwon-Do has been practised in the SouthWest since 1st February 1975, under its senior instructor Master Michael Dew, 7th Dan Black Belt.

There are currently over sixty Tae-Kwon-Do schools incorporated in the South West of England and they are all members of the Tae-Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB), which was formed in August 1983.

On 21st April 1988, a new governing body for Tae-Kwon-Do was formed called the British Tae-Kwon-Do Council (BTC). This now includes eleven different organisations, and is the only body for Tae-Kwon-Do recognised by the Sports Council for Great Britain. The Tae-Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) is a founder member of the British Tae-Kwon-Do Council (BTC) and is also, at present, the largest organisation in the British Tae-Kwon-Do Council (BTC) with currently over 12,000 members.

The Tae-Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) is a member of Tae-Kwon-Do International. Tae-Kwon-Do International is a worldwide body with representation in every continent of the globe. Tae-Kwon-Do International was inaugurated on 13th November 1993 at a meeting in England, and attended by Tae-Kwon-Do practitioners from all over the world.
